Christensen successfully defended her
Ph.D. thesis, entitled "NPK Deficiencies Discrimination by Use of
Spectral and Spatial Response" on Friday July 2, 2004. Congratulations!!! A copy of the thesis is
available under Publications. Dr. Christensen has taken up a postdoctoral
position in the Department of Primary Industries - Landscape Systems at
Horsham, Australia where she will be working with remote sensing for
agriculture.
Spyros Fountas successfully defended his
Ph.D. thesis, entitled "Precision Farming" on Monday, March 29, 2004. Congratulations
Dr. Fountas! A copy of the thesis is posted under Publications.
January 2003. Dvoralai Wulfsohn has been
awarded funding by SJVF to initiate a multidisciplinary research program on
new applications of stereology in agricultural systems. The program will be a
collaboration between scientists and engineers in the section for Agrotechnology,
the Section for Horticulture, and the University of Aarhus. The aim
is the development of semi-automated methodologies for mapping 3D spatial
distributions of canopy features within an orchard for purposes of precision

October 2002. A group of European Precision Farming
companies have launched EPASPA (European Precision Agriculture
Service Providers Association). The inaugural meeting of
EPASPA will be held on 27th November at Earls Court, on the last day of the
2002 Royal Smithfield Show.
